The Lying Game

Katherine had no chance of changing who her father is and yet, she couldn't let go of the charismatic newsboy that will never forgive her for double crossing him. Not even once. She knew that it could be a possibility that they could end up together again, just as soon as she could make her father understand. That was a risk; that she was willing to take --and a goal that she had to succeed in. To reach that goal, Katherine had to plan things through including the business of having to compete with other newspaper companies in New York City.

"I have that article for you, Mr Hearst. And I think that it's the best one that I have ever done...so far," she said. "Yet, I have not interviewed those heroes that you wanted to interview yet, which ones were they again?"

Katherine waited for an elderly William Randolph Hearst to respond to her question, knowing that she won't get an answer from him until she's fourty or maybe even thirty. Katherine looked at Hearst's assistant, Claude Dubois for an answer instead. He responded to her with a slightly gesture towards the door before handing her a piece of paper and bidding her adieu.

Katherine took the piece of paper from him and headed out the door. She didn't care if Claude hated her and Hearst admired her for her hard work, and smart skill set. "I can't believe that I lied to Jack, just for that damned article," she uttered in the quietest tone as possible before she looked at the piece of paper in her hands.

It reads:
"Katherine,
No one can act like the give a damn like you do; better than you do. You must go undercover as an intern at Pym Technologies and find out how they work. I'm counting on you!
William Randolph Hearst"
